We rescued and placed our first pigs in October 2011. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization for charitable purposes. Whispering Rise is located on 6 acres in northern Baltimore County, Maryland.

The mission of Whispering Rise is to provide sanctuary for surrendered and rescued potbelly pigs who are products of the pet pig trade and to educate the public about them.
We meet the mission by offering sanctuary to potbelly pigs, providing humane education to the public, and offering an anthrozoological experience to individuals and small groups.
The founder, Jeff Lambert, is a long-time animal welfare, child welfare, and environmental activist.
"I worked in child welfare programs for 30 years in Virginia and Maryland. I want to create a place where these three interests can intersect for the benefit of people and animals."
