The Yearlings

Meet the “Yearlings” – Frank, Levi Jean, Cheryl and Gabriela. This sibling crew joined us when they were just 8 weeks old, small enough to line up on a lap for snuggles! They were known their first year collectively as the “Piglets.” When they became too big to line up on a lap, they became known as the “Yearlings.” That name has stuck despite the passing of more years and more pounds!

They came to us from Baltimore County Agricultural Center in October 2019. The Ag Center had rescued two pigs that were found as strays near the Eastern Landfill. Soon after they were blessed with four tiny surprises! WRFAS was quickly contacted and we agreed to adopt the siblings after they were weaned and spayed/neutered.

They are very large, handsome pigs with shiny black coats, friendly personalities and an unquenchable desire to sit in laps! Just a few special people at the sanctuary can tell these 300 pound “mini-pigs” apart by checking out their gender and tail shape (straight, curved, or crooked).
