Piper is very social and bonded with Penny and JoJo. Initially, Piper was purchased as a pet pig by a family in a nearby county that was misled into believing she would only grow to be 45-50lbs. As she grew into her full adult size (definitely not 50lbs) she was unable to navigate the stairs to the back yard. Upon finding WRFAS, the mom could tell this was the best fit for Piper. She adjusted wonderfully to her herd and is now thriving.

Penny was the pet pig of a couple that lived in a townhouse in DC. They had gotten Penny as a therapy pig for their daughter who was having some problems. Penny was not a good fit for the three level townhouse as she couldn’t do all of the steps. Penny came to the sanctuary on the same day as Piper and they have been best buddies ever since.

JoJo was living alone with a family that wasn’t quite equipped to care for a pet pig. She has had piglets before and has suffered with problems related to being overweight. She was fostered with Piper and Penny for a time, and has since returned to WRFAS where she has settled in nicely as a yard pig.
