A private citizen illegally owned 45 pigs, and so animal control reached out to many sanctuaries to have the pigs rehomed to more suitable conditions. Whispering Rise took Hansel and Gretel (along with Hazel, who has since been adopted) even though the two ladies were not yet spayed. We hosted a Spay-ghetti fundraiser to pay for their medical needs in early 2026 allowing people to make donations and in exchange get to feed sanctuary pigs spaghetti dinners.
