Siblings and best friends—Heidi & Michael—came to us in September 2022 when they were about 1 ½ years old. They came originally from a hoarding situation in Kentucky that included dozens of cats and dogs and two adorable, tiny pink piglets. They were rescued by a wonderful friend of the sanctuary—Nancy—when they were just a few weeks old. She fostered them for 16 months until they were old enough to join a herd at Whispering Rise.

Heidi and Michael are so similar that it took us some time to find a way to tell them apart. Their pink snouts hold the secret to their identity! Heidi has a small dark dot below her right nostril and Michael has a small dark dot above his left nostril.

The siblings are part of our “active, young herd” and spend their days running, rooting, eating, wallowing and napping with a dozen other young and rowdy residents.
