Mortimer, or Morty as he is known to his friends, joined Whispering Rise in July 2014 when he was about 4 years old. He was beginning to act ornery toward his owner and was becoming difficult to handle.  Once as the sanctuary, he joined a herd, learned pig manners and found his place in the herd hierarchy. He quickly befriended another new pig that arrived that summer—Miss Piggles—and can often be found snuggling in a hut with his old pal. Morty is a handsome senior pig, black with a white tummy which is an adorable pink when he “blows his coat” each year!
